Dan Wheeler will be discussing the legal and policy ramifications of a U.S. central bank digital currency (the “digital dollar”). Does the Federal Reserve have the authority and ability to implement the digital dollar? What sort of efficiencies can be achieved by the digital dollar? What industries would be disrupted? How could the government use a digital dollar to invade privacy and control our lives? Dan will discuss why digital currencies are so appealing to governments such as China and whether effective safeguards are possible.
