MUFG Union Bank, N.A. seeks an experienced multi-faceted commercial credit attorney to join the Legal Department’s Commercial Lending team to support the Bank’s Commercial Banking units. This position requires strong background and experience in middle market and mid-corporate credit facilities, commitment letters, term sheets, credit agreements, collateral structures, trade finance, asset based financing, letters of credit, and UCC Article 9 expertise, for bilateral and syndicated loans. A general understanding of interest rate and other derivative products is important. A working knowledge of real property secured lending is helpful. Experience with California state court collection, bankruptcy and workout matters is a plus.
The position requires a minimum of eight years of relevant experience. In addition to substantive knowledge and experience, the attorney must have strong risk analysis skills and judgment, exceptional verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, and a reputation for timely transaction execution. The candidate must be a creative and strategic thinker with the ability to influence, interact with and advise senior executives, build trusted relationships with clients and colleagues, deal constructively with conflict, issue advice and guidance with confidence and diplomacy, and adapt to a fast-paced environment involving multiple simultaneous issues and transactions.
The location is Los Angeles. The candidate must be a member of the California State Bar. Experience working as in-house counsel at a financial institution is helpful.
